Various plots of land around Ribeauvillé.
The vineyards that gave this wine are located in the geological fracture zone of Ribeauvillé. They constitute a territory which is highly geologically fragmented. They are above all areas with hard chalk, clay and marl from the Liassic and Triassic periods, sandstone clay, and calcareous, chalky conglomerates from the Oligocene period. The area is also characterised by silt-laden deposits, originally loessial, and by glacis and sandy alluvium in the valley and on the plain.
It has a beautiful yellow colour, with glints of green, a very expressive nose offering flavours of citrus fruits and a fine balance. Fruity, fresh on the palate with a good balance. A wine of pleasure.
A very adaptable wine, which is an excellent complement to: cold meats, salads, shellfish, crustaceans, grilled fish, cured fish, quiches, pies, soufflés, white meats, poultry and asparagus.
To be enjoyed immediately in order to enjoy its fruity and delicately thirst-quenching character.
This new vintage follows the very generous 2018 vintage which did not always allow the vines to build up reserves. With a dry Autumn 2018 and capricious weather conditions the start of the growth got very heterogeneous. The cold temperature end of April and beginning of May did not improve the situation either and induced very slow growth of the vegetation. Some heavy rains in June, followed by extreme temperatures in July added more stress to the vines.
However, the harvest could start on September 12th and lasted until October 15th. The conditions were not stable at all with hot days and cooler ones. Luckily no heavy precipitations occurred.
Finally, we harvested nice and ripe grapes with great balance.
